Welcome New Daughter with Patriot Christopher Phillippi

On 5 April 2024, Four Flags Chapter, NSDAR welcomed a new member whose Patriot is Christopher Phillippi. Born circa 1758 in Pennsylvania, Christopher served as a soldier under Captain Buchanan in Montgomery County, Virginia. He died in Wythe County, VA in 1857.

Welcome New Daughter with Patriot Charles Moore

On 5 July 2023, Four Flags Chapter, NSDAR welcomed a new member with Patriot Charles Moore. Born in Hanover Co., Virginia in 1763, Charles moved to Rowan Co., NC, and served as a private under Major Mountflorence and Col. Brandon. Charles later moved to Illinois where he died in1839.

Welcome New Daughter with Patriot Jesse Warren

In December 2022, Four Flags, NSDAR welcomed a new member descended from Patriot Jesse Warren. Born circa 1750, Jesse Warren was appointed Second Lieutenant in Captain Wilson’s Company of Surry County Militia, Surry, Virginia on 26 August 1777. His service was documented in the Virginia Magazine of History & Biography, Vol 23, No 2, p. 211.

New Gavel and Sound Block for Four Flags, NSDAR

On 21 September 2022, the Regent of Four Flags Chapter, NSDAR unveiled a new gavel and sound block for the Chapter.  Teak for the head of the gavel and sound block came from the deck of the USS Wisconsin while the wood for the handle came from the deck of the USS Iowa.

The USS Wisconsin (BB-64) was built at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and was the last U.S. Battleship built and served in WWII, the Korean War, the Cold War, and Operation Desert Storm.  She is operated as a museum ship and is docked in Norfolk, VA.  

Built at the New York Naval Shipyard in 1940, the USS Iowa (BB-61) was the lead ship of her class and served in WWII, Korea, and the Cold War.  Today the battleship is a museum docked on the Los Angeles waterfront.  

Welcome New Daughter with Patriot Davis Petty

In July 2022, Four Flags Chapter, NSDAR, welcomed a new member whose Patriot is Davis Petty of Halifax County, Virginia. Born about 1761, Davis paid a supply tax in 1783 to support the American Revolutionary War.

Welcome New Daughter with Patriot Joshua Gay

In June 2021, a new Daughter joined Four Flags Chapter, NSDAR. Her Patriot is Joshua Louis Gay from Georgia. Born in 1764, Joshua Louis Gay received a land lottery grant in Georgia for his service as a soldier during the American Revolutionary War.

Welcome New Daughter with Patriot Tarleton Woodson

On December 5, 2020, Four Flags Chapter, NSDAR, added a new member who claims Tarleton Woodson as her Patriot. Tarleton was born in 1758 in Albemarle County, Virginia, and died there sometime after 1795. Married to Ann Annis Shepherd, he served as a sergeant in the militia as shown in John H. Gwathmey’s Historical Register of Virginia in the Revolution, page 846.
